Homemade Dog Biscuits

In honor of our sweet, furry doghter’s (dog/daughter’s) twelveth birthday today I would like to share a fun homemade dog treat recipe that she loves to indulge in. These biscuits are quick to whip up and will make your fur-kids wag their happy-tails with much delight.

On March 2nd 2010 our beautiful brown-eyed, blond-haired baby girl was born into the world. She came to live with us just six weeks later. We named her Allison Nichole Haley (we call her Allie) and she has been an absolute dream dog. I can hardly believe it’s been twelve years! It has been a beautiful journey of love shared between us.

Allie is a champagne colored Golden Retriever but she doesn’t know it. She is thoroughly convinced that she is as human as they come. She is everyone’s best friend, smiles continuously and never misses an opportunity to let someone pet her. She has what we call a very “bossy nose” that she uses to not-so-gently nudge anyone who may stop petting her. She loves to be as close in proximity to people as possible, even to the point of laying on your feet or in your lap.

Our Allie-Bear is the absolute best!

To celebrate her birthday today I thought I’d share this recipe and a few pictures of her over the years – particularly her birthday pictures from each year.

What a joy she is to our hearts and what a huge presence she is in our lives. She literally is our constant shadow, following us from room to room and filling our days with incredible love.

Happy 12th Birthday, Allie -Bear! We love you so very, very much!

Peanut Butter Dog Biscuits

Ingredients:

1/2 cup peanut butter

1/2 cup canned pumpkin

4 Tbsp honey

2 cups whole wheat (or all-purpose) flour

1/3 cup water

1 egg

Cookie cutter

Directions:

  1. Wisk together all ingedients except the flour, in a mixing bowl.
  2. After all the wet ingredients are combined, add the flour and mix with an electric mixer at medium speed.
  3. Once the dough is firm, roll it out on a floured, flat surface with a rolling pin about 1/4 to 1/2 inch thick (if you want thicker biscuits just increase the bake time by 10-20 minutes)
  4. Cut the dough using a cookie cutter.
  5. Place the biscuits onto a cookie sheet lined with parchment paper and bake for 20 – 25 minutes at 300°.
  6. Allow to cool and dry out.
  7. Give to your puppy-dog to enjoy!

I hope you all like this recipe and your fur babies love it, too! The world is definitely a better place with the pitter-patter of doggy feet in it. They deserve to be celebrated!

Be Blessed, friends!
